Rib-Off – Greencastle

🔥 So we haven’t done this in a few years, but we’re hosting a Backyard Riiib-Off at our open house on April 13th! 🔥

This ribs-only competition is open to everyone. No pro teams, just backyard warriors. But your work will be judged by pro KCBS judges!

Have you watched rib competitions on TV and said “I can do that”? This is your chance to see how you stack up.

This is a fun, social event that ALSO raises money for charity. Come as you are, be as fancy or simple as you want to be. The main requirement is to make great ribs.

You’ll need to bring your own set-up: grill/smoker, tents, tables, and of course, ribs. You can set up Friday evening and stay overnight or arrive Saturday morning. We can help you load and unload your smokers and other gear.

Rules 

We are following KCBS rules—except we're letting you cook on anything! LP gas, pellet cookers, charcoal/wood smokers, even electric smokers.

Here are the highlights:

• Entry fee is $50.00 per team.
• Ribs must be pork spare ribs or (baby) back ribs.
• Ribs may be trimmed, but not seasoned, when you arrive.
• This is a NO GARNISH competition.

Judging

• Judges will use KCBS scoring on the following factors:
  • Taste
  • Tenderness
  • Appearance
• Judging will be in a double-blind format.
• All judges are KCBS certified.
• Rib turn-in is from 2:45–3:05 pm.

Prizes

• 1st Place – Trophy plus $500.00 cash
• 2nd Place – Trophy plus $250.00 cash
• 3rd Place – $150.00 cash
• 4th Place – $100.00 cash
• 5th Place – $50.00 cash
